This monument is named after the french engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company was in charge of this project’s design and development. It started being built in 1887 and was completed 2 years later, just in time to be one of the main attractions of the 1889 World Fair, in Paris.
Although the Eiffel Tower is not one of The 7 Wonders of the World, it is still one of the most famous monuments worldwide, receiving an average of 6.8 million visitors each year, thus being the worlds most visited monument with an entry fee.
